Samuel Roth

Samuel Roth was born in Youngstown, Ohio in 1944.  He received his Bachelor’s Degree from Youngstown State University and his Master’s Degree from Cleveland State University. The subtle rich colors and elegant gestures of his paintings leave to the viewer's imagination for interpretation, giving freedom to the abstract thought. Roth’s artistic vision is focused on color and light to create strong feelings, and connect with viewers on a deep level. He believes in emotional and spiritual significance. His use of color, shape, and arrangement create spaces that make people feel like they are inside the paintings and encourage them to think deeply about themselves. Roth feels that colors can reach deep into our emotions and express things that are hard to describe or understand. By using layering and glazes, he makes his paintings look like they have different levels of brightness.
