Albert Newbill (1921-2011)
Albert was an abstract expressionist who was raised in Detroit. Working with a palette of pastels and deep blues, Newbill creates works at once atmospheric, gestural, and figural.
In 1957, Newbill showed at the New York Artists’ 6th Annual Exhibition alongside contemporaries Robert Motherwell, Willem de Kooning and Hans Hofmann. His friends included Pollack, de Kooning and Franz Kline. A major yet lesser-known talent, many of his works exist in private collections. The remaining works available through his estate are represented exclusively by TRA.
